Poulsbo is north of Silverdale and is locally known as "Little Scandanavia" because it was settled by folks of Scandanivan descent in the late 19th century.
Once known as the gateway to Bainbridge Island and the Seattle ferry, Poulsbo has become a destination location since the Olhava Project was approved in 2001 -2002. Since then, Poulsbo has become a shopping and retail community and will soon
house the 2+2 program for Olympic College.
Like many of Kitsap's cities, Poulsbo is located on Liberty Bay with a spectacular view of the Olympic Mountains to the west.
